Private Lessons

Our private dog training lessons are offered in Tacoma, Puyallup, University Place, and Fircrest, WA. Private lessons are a great choice for families and dogs who need more focused attention from our certified trainers. Our job is to coach you through the training process, create a training plan that you and the whole family can implement, and help your dog succeed. During your consultation we will help determine what your goals are with your dog, then create a training plan to meet those goals. We can work on anything from basic obedience and clever tricks to more challenging behaviors such as reactivity, fear, or anxiety. Our packages are customizable, we can schedule lessons weekly, bi-weekly, or even meet multiple times per week for more consistent coaching. We are here to help you and your dog live happily together.

Initial Consultations

$225

During our initial training consultations we will go over your dog’s behavior, your training goals, and discuss any questions you may have. We’ll start introducing you and your dog to positive reinforcement training methods so you can hit the ground running after our first meeting. We will then develop a training plan for your specific needs and lay out the options we think are best for you to choose from, including specific product recommendations and enrichment strategies.

She has realistic solutions and is there every step of the way. She is flexible in the type of focus we need to week to week, issue to issue or dog to dog. We highly recommend Cascade Canine to anyone in the Pierce and South King County area.”

“I can't say enough good things about our experience with Cascade Canine. We've worked with a few different trainers before Cascade and the differences were dramatic. I have great respect for their methods and their ethics. Training is a conversation between you and your dog and can really help foster the joy you share with your dog. We are deeply appreciative of their individualized support and approach to working with us.”

Carrie B.

“Kay did a great job training Duke (and us)! Kay worked with us on leash training and impulse control and the results were wonderful. We can now walk Duke safely without fear of being pulled down and he is able to “mostly” control his impulses when he sees other dogs or animals while on a walk. We highly recommend Kay and Cascade K9.”

FAQs

  • No, your puppy does not need to be fully vaccinated before training. The AVSAB is now recommending puppies attend socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age with a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class, a first deworming, and a plan to stay up-to-date with vaccines for the duration of the class. We will take every precaution we can to ensure the health and safety of the puppies in our class.

  • We are happy to come to you and facilitate training right in the comfort of your own home. We can also do training outside in your neighborhood or at a nearby park.

  • All private lessons are performed by Kay or Poppy depending on scheduling.

  • Absolutely, we are happy to customize a package to fit the needs of you and your dog.

  • Yes! Doing both private lessons and a group class can be a great way for dogs to get the best of both worlds. Group class is a great time to practice skills in a new environment, while private lessons will help you get the direct coaching on specific skills that maybe are not addressed in class. We are happy to create a package that includes both!
