Day Training in Puyallup
Busy Family? New Dog?
From the vibrant communities in the valley to the friendly neighborhoods throughout South Hill, Puyallup is a wonderful place to share life with a dog. Our Day Training program is tailored to this unique lifestyle, focusing on the real-world skills your dog needs to enjoy everything our community has to offer. Whether you're near the Puyallup fairgrounds or Meridian Habitat Park, we can provide a custom program designed specifically to help you and your dog thrive together.
What is Day Training?
Our Day Training program is designed to immerse your dog in a structured, positive learning environment, fast tracking your training goals. This training program is designed to put the bulk of the training work on the professional trainer, and less on the dog owner. It is also particularly helpful for busy working families. Your dog will spend up to an hour a day with our certified trainer, Kay Rutland, participating in one-on-one training sessions focused on building essential life skills. We combine force-free training with enrichment, exercise, and appropriate socialization to ensure your dog returns to you happy, tired, and better-behaved.
How Day Training Works
Day training packages are four weeks long, with the number of sessions each week determined by which package you choose. Those sessions will be split between day training (Kay works one-on-one with your dog), and private lessons (Kay works with the whole family, teaching you how to maintain and reinforce the skills your dog has learned.) The majority of your sessions will be day training, with either short, regular updates at the end of each session or a private lesson once a week - whatever works best for you. All Day Training packages include unlimited text support as well as flexibility to meet remotely when in person isn’t feasible.
Some of the things your dog may learn:
Foundational skills (Sit, Down, Stay, and Touch)
Polite Leash Walking
Reliable Recall ("Come")
Settling On a Mat
Better Behavior Around Triggers
Any other skills you’d like to work on!
We combine focused training with appropriate socialization and mental enrichment to ensure your dog returns home happy, relaxed, and better-behaved.
Puyallup Focus: Our trainers emphasize skills essential for neighborhood life and raising a well rounded dog. We also specialize in taking a positive approach on reactivity and aggression cases.
What Our Puyallup Clients Are Saying
“Our pup, Ruthie, loves Kay! She is her favorrite person. Kay has worked with us since we brought our dog home. She is helping us learn the best training, tools, and toys for our pup. We have done a mix of day training and private lessons. Kay has listened to our goals and identifies what Ruthie needs to be best set up for success. We have learned so much from Kay and we are so thankful to have her in our lives. We cannot recommend Cascade Canine enough!”
-Hillari M.
“I adopted my two year old blue heeler mix when her owner passed. I was unprepared for the challenge of this breed. Because I understand her now, Snickerdoodle and I have been able to heal together. She understands how to behave, I am learning how to guide her, so she is confident. I can’t thank Kay and Cascade Canine enough.”
-Kathy N.
“I chose the Mischief Maker training package. I was skeptical and actually as a business owner, not very present for the majority of the 8 week training. Its amazing what she was able to teach my Rotty Pup. She is very friendly, knowledgeable, disarming and respectful of time. Atlas still remembers her instructions. I would highly recommend their services over a board and train service where you don't exactly know how your pet is being treated. I plan to purchase another service with them when he is older. Thanks for everything Kay!”
-Brian G.
We signed up for 12 day training sessions and it as worth every penny! We have a much better understanding of our dog and a road map for going forward. Kay was so nice and always available to anseer queestions and give advice. If you aree having problems or just don’t have time to train your dog, please call Cascade Canine- you will not regret it. Our house is much less chaotic and our puppy is much more content, relaxed, and happy.”
-Lauri M.
“Kay, and Cascade Canine Dog Training & Behavior were a huge blessing for us when we adopted a rescue German Aussie Shepherd. Our pup had no training and came from a rough situation before we got her. Kay was calm, gentle, but firm, and reassuring for both us and the dog. Since the training, our pup has come such a long way. She is a great family dog, and fantastic out in public and with other dogs, even running freely off leash on the beach! We recommend Cascade Canine to all our friends and can't thank them enough.
-Ryan C.
“Graham says that Kay is his favorite!!!! Kay worked with our dog for a month, helping to adjust him to neighborhood living, walking on a leash, being polite to other dogs and to humans - He - and we are now well trained and will continue to use Kay’s services. Thank you!!”
